Thanks to a notification from the Glitch support forum, I was reminded that I started using Glitch seven years ago 🎉
I signed up for Glitch (originally known as Hyperdev) on the day it was announced, under another of its former names. Glitch has a very special place for me, especially with my work on Botwiki.
In the early days of Botwiki, the biggest challenge of making creative online bots was hosting them. I typically tailor my tutorials towards beginners/enthusiasts, so it’s been a big frustration having to walk them through a somewhat complex set up in order to help them host their creations.
Until Glitch came around. There was just nothing quite like it. Sure, free hosting existed, but the idea that you could just open up a text editor and start writing your own node.js app, completely for free, was actually pretty darn revolutionary.
Glitch has gone through changes over the years, for instance, hosting non-static sites is no longer free, unfortunately. But it’s still a site I happily recommend to anyone asking where to host their next web project.
It's been seven years since I joined @glitchdotcom and used it to write tutorials and host some of my projects! 🎉
I've been a huge fan of the work their team has done over the years and I've spoken about my own work on their blog in 2017, and again earlier this year:
