A cropped screenshot of a graph chart showing relationship between my bots and their followers. Each bot is represented by a circle corresponding to the number of followers, and is connected to dots representing them.

I’ve been running a network of creative bots on Mastodon for some time now (my earliest Mastodon bots are from August 2018) and I thought it would be fun to put together a few data visualizations around them.

Here’s a look at my bots’ popularity in terms of followers. (I excluded myself from the follower counts.)

Nice.

Now, I know some people follow more than just one of my bots, so I was wondering what the total number of unique followers was.

It turns out it’s my bots have 6,102 unique followers combined. That’s quite a lot!

And the top three followers each follow 19, 17, and 15 of my bots, respectively. Nice to have a dedicated audience!

Here’s a view of the full network of my bots and their followers.

PS: You might also enjoy my Twitter bots retrospective, or some of my other data visualization projects.

I currently run 43 creative Mastodon bots, which are together followed by 6,102 unique accounts.

Here’s what this network looks like.
