Custom fediverse emoji

Clik here to view.
A scatter chart showing several popular fediverse servers laid out on a grid, with x axis representing number of registered users, and y axis representing the number of custom emoji on each server. The data point for mstdn.social is highlighted showing the corresponding data and a prompt to click the data point to browse the emoji.

If you’ve spent some time in the fediverse, you’ve surely noticed that different servers have their own custom emoji. It’s a really nice way to customize your experience, and bring together the community.

And here’s a quick look at how some of the most popular fediverse servers with more than 50,000 registered accounts use this feature.

You can click or tap each datapoint to view the corresponding server’s custom emoji on emojos.in. To view more details, hover, or, on a mobile device, tap and briefly hold, a datapoint.

You can also visit fedimoji.tela.moe to view these emoji.

The data was collected using Mastodon’s custom_emojis API endpoint, which is also supported by Pleroma, Akkoma, and Pixelfed servers. You can download the dataset used for the chart, or the full dataset (mind you, there might be some NSFW and otherwise questionable servers in there).

What are your server’s favorite custom emoji? Are there any you added or requested to be added yourself?
