A fediverse invitation for artists

A tinted screenshot of a section of the jointhefediverse.net explaining how the fediverse works.

We know you’re tired of Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, and the rest of the “Algorithm”-controlled web.

There’s a better way!

You’ve surely heard of the fediverse by now, or at least Mastodon, which is a big part of it. Maybe you already tried it, but it wasn’t working for you at the time. Maybe you’re afraid to lose your fans.

But you should know that there’s a big community of people who care and support each other. There is a strong #MutualAid culture, we’ve raised money to support independent newspapers, political causes, and our own communities.

And remember, it doesn’t have to be an either/or. Set up an account, meet the creative folks who have already made the switch, and keep your corporate social media accounts to promote your work.

Or just take the plunge and tell your fans to follow you.

Whatever you choose, we’ll be here to support you!

Get started on Mastodon or learn about other fediverse platforms (they all work together!)

I wrote an open letter to artists and other creatives who are thinking about giving the fediverse a chance:

"There’s a better way!"

After nearly two years of actively participating in the fediverse, I figured I'd put together my own guide for Mastodon, the platform I'm the most familiar with as a user.
